DIRECTIONS

Peoples Library | New Kensington

 

From Route 28 North

Take exit 13 (Creighton) off of Route 28. There is also a sign for the New Kensington Bridge. Bear right at the stop sign off the exit. At the traffic light at the next intersection, turn right onto Freeport Road. Follow this road until you see signs for the CL Schmidt Bridge (New Kensington Bridge). You will want to be in the left lane to turn left across the bridge at the second traffic light. Continue straight across the bridge onto Ninth Street. Continue straight through three lights. The library is on the right side, at the corner of Ninth Street and Barnes Avenue. There are municipal parking lots on either side of the library, as well as metered parking on the street.

 

** To get back on Route 28, reverse the directions to cross the bridge and get back onto Freeport Road. Turn right onto Freeport Road and continue straight through two lights. At the third light, there will be signs for route 28. Turn left at this light and then left after the overpass.

 

From PA Turnpike (Route 76)

Take exit 48 (Allegheny Valley) off of the turnpike. After the toll booth, follow the signs to the left for Cheswick/Springdale. This will put you on Freeport Road. Continue straight through both towns until you see signs for the CL Schmidt Bridge (New Kensington Bridge). You will want to be in the left lane to turn right across the bridge. Continue straight across the bridge onto Ninth Street. Continue straight through three lights. The library is on the right side, at the corner of Ninth Street and Barnes Avenue. There are municipal parking lots on either side of the library, as well as metered parking on the street.

 

From Route 366 North

When you come to the traffic light at the intersection of Route 366 and Freeport Street, get in the right lane and bear right with the right-turn arrow at the traffic light. You will then be on Stevenson Boulevard/Route 56. Continue through two traffic lights. At the third light, make a left onto Seventh Street. Go through one traffic light and make a right at the stop sign onto Constitution Boulevard. Continue on for two blocks and then turn left over the railroad tracks onto Ninth Street. The library will be on the left at the corner of Ninth Street and Barnes Avenue. There are municipal parking lots on either side of the library, as well as metered parking on the street.

 

Peoples Library | Lower Burrell

 

From Route 28 North

Take exit 14 (Tarentum) off of Route 28. Bear right at the exit. Continue straight across the Tarentum Bridge and then straight through three traffic lights. You will need to be in the center lane to go straight at the third light. There will be a “Y” in the road, bear left toward Leechburg. This will become Route 56. Turn left at the second traffic light onto Wildlife Lodge Road. Turn left onto the third street on the left, Wachter Avenue. The American Legion is on the left before the turn and Hillcrest Shopping Center is on the right. Once you turn left onto Wachter Avenue, the library is immediately on the left.

 

From PA Turnpike (Route 76)

At the third light, turn right onto Route 910. Stay in the right lane and follow the signs to get onto Route 28 North. Take exit 14 (Tarentum) off of Route 28. Bear right at the exit. Continue straight across the Tarentum Bridge and then straight through three traffic lights. You will need to be in the center lane to go straight at the third light. There will be a “Y” in the road, bear left toward Leechburg. This will become Route 56. Turn left at the second traffic light onto Wildlife Lodge Road. Turn left onto the third street on the left, Wachter Avenue. The American Legion is on the left before the turn and Hillcrest Shopping Center is on the right. Once you turn left onto Wachter Avenue, the library is immediately on the left.

 

From Route 366 North

Stay in the left lane and go straight under the overpass, following signs for Leechburg. Turn left at the second traffic light onto Wildlife Lodge Road. Turn left onto the third street on the left, Wachter Avenue. The American Legion is on the left before the turn and Hillcrest Shopping Center is on the right. Once you turn left onto Wachter Avenue, the library is immediately on the left.
